Washing machines give more warning than any other appliance. The noise gets worse over weeks, the spin gets less effective, a small puddle appears now and then. Catching it at that stage usually means a modest repair; leaving it until the drum seizes often means a new machine. Most of what we replace in Mississauga washers is pumps, door locks, suspension components and bearings.

Before you call: If your washer is leaking, turn off the taps behind it before you do anything else. A slow leak behind a machine causes far more damage than the repair costs.

Won't spin, but drains fine	Worn drive belt, motor coupler, shifter assembly, or a failed door lock the machine won't spin without	Depends on the machine. A coupler or a belt is a different job from a drive assembly, and we confirm which one it is before quoting.
Very loud on the spin cycle	Worn drum bearings, or an object trapped between the drum and tub	We check for foreign objects first. Genuine bearing failure is a major job and on some models isn't worth doing — we'll tell you which.
Leaking from the front	Perished door boot seal, or a blocked detergent drawer overflowing	Boot seals are a routine replacement. Often caused by coins and grit trapped in the fold.
Leaking from underneath	Failed pump seal, split hose, or a cracked tub	Pump and hose faults are routine. A cracked outer tub is normally the end of the machine.
Door won't unlock at cycle end	Failed door lock assembly or control fault	The lock assembly gets replaced. It's one of the more common washer repairs we do.
Bangs and walks across the floor	Worn suspension rods or shock absorbers letting the drum swing too far	Replacing the suspension set prevents further damage to the drum and bearings.
Won't fill, or fills very slowly	Closed tap, kinked inlet hose, blocked inlet screen, or a failed inlet valve	Check the tap and hose yourself first — it's the single most common false callout we get.

The ones worth understanding

Drum bearing failure

The big one. On some machines the bearings are replaceable as a part; on others they're moulded into the outer tub, which means replacing most of the machine. Which camp your washer falls into is the difference between a fair repair and a write-off, and we establish that before quoting.

Front-load smells and mould

Not a fault, but the most common complaint we hear. It's the door boot and detergent drawer holding moisture. A proper clean and a change in how you use the machine fixes it — we'll show you rather than sell you a part.

Stacked and compact units

Very common in Mississauga condos and townhouses. Parts are more specialised and access is tighter, so we confirm both when you book rather than discovering them on the day.

Repair or replace?

Under eight years, repair. Eight to twelve, it hinges on the part — pumps, locks, belts and suspension are worth doing; a bearing failure on a sealed-tub machine usually isn't. Past twelve years, only well-supported parts justify the work.

Questions

Should I try clearing the filter myself first?

Yes, on any front loader. There's a small access door at the bottom front; put a shallow tray and towel down first because water will come out. If that clears the drain fault, you've saved yourself a callout entirely.

Is it worth repairing a front loader with noisy bearings?

Sometimes. It depends whether your model has serviceable bearings or a sealed tub. We identify the model first and give you a straight answer, because on a sealed-tub machine the repair can approach the cost of a new washer.

Do you work on top loaders as well as front loaders?

Yes, both, including older direct-drive top loaders where the motor coupler is a common failure.
