Why installation is worth paying for

A meaningful share of the "my new appliance is broken" calls we attend aren't faults at all. They're installation problems: a washer that walks across the floor because it was never levelled, a dishwasher that won't drain because the hose has no high loop, a fridge whose water line was never fully seated and has been weeping behind the unit for a month.

None of those are the manufacturer's fault and none are covered by warranty. They're also all avoidable in the twenty minutes it takes to do the job properly.

What we install

ApplianceWhat's involved
Washing machineHot and cold connections, drain standpipe, levelling, transit-bolt removal, and a test cycle before we leave.
Dryer (electric)Power connection, vent duct routed with as few bends as possible, and an airflow check at the outside vent.
Dryer (gas)Gas connection and leak test, plus the venting. This is the one retailers most often refuse.
DishwasherWater supply, drain with a proper high loop, electrical, levelling and securing to the counter or cabinet.
Integrated dishwasherAll of the above plus fitting the custom cabinet panel and adjusting the door spring for its weight.
FridgeWater line for ice and dispenser, levelling so the doors self-close, and door reversal if the layout needs it.
Range or cooktopElectric or gas connection, anti-tip bracket fitted, and a burner and oven test.
Over-the-range microwaveMounting plate, cabinet bolts, venting configured for recirculating or external, and electrical.

Before we arrive

  • Measure the opening — width, depth and height, plus the door swing and handle
  • Check the path from your door to the kitchen or laundry, including any turn in a stairwell
  • Make sure the appliance has actually been delivered
  • Have the old unit emptied and defrosted if it's a fridge or freezer
  • Know where your water shut-off and breaker panel are

Questions

Do you install appliances bought elsewhere?
Yes. Most of our installations are appliances bought from a retailer whose delivery service will drop the unit off but not connect it, or won't touch an integrated or gas installation.
Can you install a gas dryer or gas range?
Yes. Gas connections must be made by someone qualified to do it, and a badly made gas connection is genuinely dangerous — which is exactly why retailers decline them.
Can you take the old appliance away?
We can disconnect and move the old unit out of position for you. Disposal itself depends on the appliance, so ask when you book and we'll tell you what's possible.
What if it doesn't fit?
Measure the opening before the appliance arrives, including the door swing and any handle. If it won't fit we'll tell you straight away rather than forcing it and damaging your cabinetry.
