Dishwasher Repair Mississauga
Not draining, dishes coming out gritty, leaking at the door, or stopping mid-cycle — dishwashers are our most-mentioned repair on Google.
Dishwasher repair is what our customers mention most often in reviews, and it's the work we do more of than any other single appliance after laundry. The common faults are mechanical: filters, spray arms, door seals and drain hoses. Peel's hard water is the quiet factor behind a lot of them.
Before you call: If water is escaping onto the floor, switch the machine off at the wall and shut the supply valve under the sink. Dishwasher leaks damage flooring and cabinet toe-kicks quickly.
Symptoms, causes and fixes
Find your symptom below. This is genuinely how we work through a call — it may also tell you the fault is something you can clear yourself, in which case you've saved a visit.
| Symptom | Likely cause | What the fix involves |
|---|---|---|
| Water left in the bottom | Blocked filter, clogged drain hose, kinked hose, or a failed drain pump | Clean the filter first — often that's the whole fix. A genuinely failed pump gets replaced. |
| Dishes coming out gritty or filmy | Blocked spray arms, clogged chopper, or hard-water scale on the element | Clear the spray-arm jets and descale. Very common in Peel and often mistaken for detergent problems. |
| Leaking from the door | Perished door gasket or a failed door hinge letting the door sit proud | The gasket gets replaced. Worth doing before the floor is damaged. |
| Won't start | Failed door latch switch, control-panel fault, or no power at the outlet | The latch switch is the most common cause by far. |
| Stops mid-cycle | Overheating, a failed thermistor, or a leak detected by the base float | On Bosch and similar this shows as an error code. The base tray has to be dried before it will run again. |
| Not drying | Failed heating element, vent fan or high-limit thermostat | Usually the element or the fan — both replaceable. |
| Error code on the display | Brand-specific, most often drain, fill or leak related | Have the code ready when you call and we can often tell you what's involved before we arrive. |
The ones worth understanding
Hard water
Peel Region's water is hard enough to scale a heating element and block spray-arm jets within a few years. It's the underlying cause of most 'my dishwasher stopped cleaning properly' calls, and descaling plus clearing the jets resolves it without any parts at all.
Integrated units behind cabinet doors
Most Mississauga dishwashers fitted since about 2010 are fully integrated. The cabinet panel and its bracket come off before the machine moves, which adds time to the visit — we plan for it rather than forcing the unit and marking your kitchen.
Blocked chopper assemblies
Labels, seeds and bits of bone jam the chopper and stop the machine cleaning. Not a part failure at all — just a clean-out, and one of the more satisfying fixes because the machine performs like new afterwards.
Repair or replace?
Dishwashers under ten years old with a mechanical fault are almost always worth repairing. The exception is a failed main control board on a mid-range machine, where the part cost can approach a replacement — we'll tell you when you're in that territory.
We don't publish flat rates, because the same symptom can have a minor cause or a major one and any number we printed would be wrong for someone. Here's how the money works instead: We charge a diagnostic fee on the first visit, payable that day. If you go ahead with the repair, that fee comes off the final bill. If you decide not to proceed, it covers the callout and the technician's time. You get the repair price before any work starts, and every repair carries 30 days on parts and labour for the same issue.
