Symptoms, causes and fixes

Both compartments warm, unit running constantly	Clogged condenser coils, failed condenser fan, or a sealed-system problem	Clean and test first. If it's the sealed system on an older unit, we'll usually advise replacing.
Water pooling inside or under the crisper	Blocked defrost drain tube	Clear the drain and flush the line.
Water on the floor in front	Cracked water line, failed inlet valve, or a blocked drain overflowing	Trace and replace the failed component. Worth doing promptly before flooring is damaged.
Ice maker not producing	Frozen fill tube, failed inlet valve, or a jammed auger motor	Thaw and identify. Very common on French-door models.
Loud buzzing or clicking	Failing start relay, condenser fan hitting debris, or a compressor struggling	The relay is a common failure; the compressor is the one that decides repair versus replace.

The ones worth understanding

Sealed-system failures

A refrigerant leak or failed compressor is the one fridge fault that usually isn't worth repairing on a domestic machine past about eight years. We'll identify it clearly and tell you straight rather than quoting a repair we don't believe in.

Door seals

A perished gasket makes the compressor run continuously, spikes your hydro bill, and frosts the freezer. It's also one of the faults people ignore for longest.

Second fridges in garages and basements

Very common across Mississauga and a frequent false alarm. Below roughly 10°C ambient, a standard fridge thermostat stops calling for cooling and the freezer thaws — nothing is broken. Garage-ready models handle it; most don't.

Repair or replace?

Under eight years old, repair is nearly always the right call. Eight to twelve, it depends on the component — a fan motor or defrost heater yes, a sealed-system repair usually no. Past twelve years we'd only recommend repairing if the part is still well supported.

My fridge is cold but the freezer isn't. What's that?

Usually the opposite of the common case, and it typically points to a failed damper or a defrost fault specific to the freezer compartment. It's diagnosable quickly.

Do you repair built-in and panel-ready fridges?

Yes — Sub-Zero, Thermador, Miele and Bosch built-in included. These take longer because the cabinet panels have to come off, and parts access varies by model, so the diagnostic visit confirms what's possible first.

Is the diagnostic free?

We charge a diagnostic fee on the first visit, payable that day. If you go ahead with the repair, that fee comes off the final bill. If you decide not to proceed, it covers the callout and the technician's time.
